Hours/Days of Work 26 hours
Rate of Pay WLJF Trainee Rate £13.45 per hour (6 Month Fixed Term Contract)
Purpose of the job
As a Trainee WLJF in Active Schools, you will learn how the Active Schools programme works to increase physical activity levels by creating more opportunities for participation in sport and by involving more people in delivering activities within schools and the wider community.
Duties
- Learn how to support Active Schools Coordinators in developing, promoting and delivering programmes to increase participation
- Develop skills in planning, organising and prioritising work
- Assist in creating leadership opportunities for young people through sport and physical activity
- Support the delivery and development of sport opportunities before, during and after school
- Assist in building links between schools and local sports clubs
- Assist with the planning and delivery of events, festivals and coaching sessions
- Learn to understand the needs of children and young people and support inclusive participation
- Assist in gathering feedback from young people to help shape activities
- Work with school staff to support physical education, physical activity and sport (PEPAS)
- Support programme planning, delivery, and monitoring, including collecting and using data
- Assist in developing and promoting opportunities for sport in schools and the wider community
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge
Essential
- Working towards a relevant qualification and/or relevant demonstrable experience
- Some experience or interest in working with children and young people in sport or physical activity
- Willing to learn how to work with partners and build positive relationships
- Good basic communication skills (written and spoken)
- Able to organise tasks and meet deadlines
- Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Enthusiastic and motivated with a positive attitude
- Able to build positive relationships with young people in a school setting
- An interest in and understanding of the benefits of sport and physical activity
Desirable
- Nationally recognised governing body qualification
- Full driving licence and access to transport
- First aid certificate
- Awareness or willingness to learn about social media and promotion
