What is the West Lothian Jobs fund programme?

The Steps n2 Work programme creates training opportunities for young people aged 16 - 24.The aim of the programme is to create 6 month paid training placements within a West Lothian Council service.

In addition to getting experience of a real job setting you will also receive a £500 training allowance. The training allowance will enable you to undertake training matched to what career you would like after the West Lothian Job Fund place finishes.

The opportunities are for 6 months at a minimum of 26 hours per week.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the programme you must be:

  • Aged 16 - 24
  • A West Lothian resident
  • Be currently unemployed

Are you aged 16 to 18?

If you are 16 to 18 year old you will be eligible to apply as soon as you become unemployed provided you live in West Lothian, are unemployed or have been previously engaged in a More Choices More Chances programme such as Get Ready for Work or Skills Training Programme.

Are you aged 19 to 24?

If you are 19 to 24 year old you will be eligible to apply if you have been unemployed for 3 months or more.  You must live in West Lothian, and have been unemployed for three months or must have previously engaged in a More Choices More Chances programme such as Get Ready for Work or Skills Training Programme.
