Caitlin - Digital Marketing Apprentice
Caitlin left school in May 2015 and after a period studying at college and working part-time in retail she secured a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship with West Lothian Council in March 2016.
After I had finished my 6th year studies at high school, I went to college to study Early Education and Child Care. I soon realised the course wasn't for me so I applied for some jobs. I managed to secure a part-time position in retail whilst my search continued for full-time employment.
I applied for and was successful in securing an apprenticeship in digital marketing at West Lothian Council. Within my role I ensure the content and structure of the council's web pages are accurate, which means I need to check 8 different websites to ensure the wording and spelling are correct and they can be read on a mobile phone and tablet. I complete monthly reports as well where I look at the house keeping of the content management system, which manages the various websites.
Within my apprentice I attend monthly courses to develop my skills and it provides me lots of opportunities to attend meetings, which gives me the responsibility to take the minutes and distribute them out to the content mangers.
